On November 22, 2024, a diverse group of 15 participants gathered in Arles for a workshop focusing on the critical intersection of hashtag#water ๐ง, hashtag#ecosystems ๐๐ฑ, and hashtag#climatechange in the ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฆ ๐ฆฉ – one of hashtag#RESTORE4Cs Case Pilots. Key stakeholdersโincluding institutional actors, conservationists, and members of the local economyโcame together to discuss pressing challenges and solutions. Key discussions included: ๐ฆฉ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐๐๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง ๐ฐ๐๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐๐ ๐๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ in the hashtag#Camargue, highlighting successful projects, research, and strategies; ๐ฆฉThe identification of critical issues, with ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐ก๐๐ง๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐ฉ๐ญ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง, ๐ข๐ง๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐๐ง๐๐ง๐๐, and ๐ฐ๐๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐๐ฏ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ emerging as top priorities; ๐ฆฉA collaborative vision for the future, emphasizing sustainable development while ensuring the protection of Camargue’s ecosystems. Three consensus solutions were proposed: 1๏ธโฃ Rehabilitating and optimising existing infrastructure, such as canals and pumping stations; 2๏ธโฃ Mapping stakeholder water ๐ง needs to optimise usage and anticipate future requirements; 3๏ธโฃ Supporting sector-specific adaptation to climate change. The workshop closed with a discussion on the next steps for RESTORE4Cs ๐ง ๐ฑ ๐ฆ, reaffirming the collective commitment to the region’s future.
